Fathers & Families Center Hosts “Dads to Doulas” Workshop to Empower Black Men in Birth and Beyond
Date: August 23rd, 2025
Location: 2835 North Illinois Street in Indianapolis, IN 46208
Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Indianapolis, IN – August 23, 2025
Fathers & Families Center, in partnership with Dear Fathers, is proud to host the Dads to Doulas Workshop—a one-day, transformative experience designed specifically for Black men. This powerful event provides Black fathers, father figures, and community leaders with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to support their partners throughout pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
This hands-on, culturally responsive workshop will offer real talk, real skills, and doula-informed strategies to help attendees be more present, supportive, and empowered in the birthing space and beyond. With Black maternal and infant health outcomes in crisis, this workshop is an opportunity for Black men to step into their role as protectors, advocates, and caregivers during one of life’s most critical journeys.
"Fathers can play a crucial role in reducing infant and maternal mortality rates," said Larry Smith, CEO of Fathers and Families Center. "We’re proud to partner with Dads to Doulas, a national movement empowering Black men to show up in powerful ways for their families. Our kickoff event on Saturday, August 23, at our center on North Illinois Street is more than a workshop—it’s an opportunity to gain skills that could literally save the life of your child or the woman you love. Don’t miss this chance to make a difference."
