WTHR recently highlighted Fathers and Families Center’s Vision for the Future Campaign and our work to expand space, programming, and support for Central Indiana fathers.

Fathers and Families Center was recently featured by WTHR in a story highlighting the growing need for fatherhood services in Central Indiana and our plans to expand space and programming through the Vision for the Future Campaign.

For 33 years, Fathers and Families Center has helped fathers build stronger relationships with their children, gain stability, and move forward as parents, partners, and providers. Through programs like Strong Fathers, participants receive support in parenting, communication, career readiness, and personal development. The three-week, 90-hour program helps fathers take practical steps toward greater stability for themselves and their families.

In the WTHR story, President and CEO Larry Smith shared the importance of meeting fathers where they are and creating a safe space where they can grow. He explained that Fathers and Families Center focuses on helping men become better people, parents, partners, and providers.

The story also highlighted the need behind our expansion. Fathers today are navigating complex challenges, and demand for services continues to grow. Through the $5.5 million Vision for the Future Campaign, Fathers and Families Center plans to move into a larger space and expand programming to serve more fathers and families across Central Indiana.

WTHR also featured Strong Fathers participant Shamahd Lake, a young father of three who is working toward his CDL license. Shamahd shared that bettering himself helps create a stronger foundation for his children and those around him. His story reflects the heart of our work: when fathers are supported, families and communities are strengthened.

We are grateful to WTHR for helping share this important story and for shining a light on the fathers who are taking meaningful steps toward a stronger future.
